Initiated Antidumping Investigation on Brazilian Imports of acrylic acid from China
In brief
On 18 September 2025, SECEX (the Brazilian Secretariat of International Trade) initiated an antidumping investigation on the Brazilian imports of acrylic acid, commonly classified under the NCM code 2916.11.10, from China.
This is a base raw material for the main acrylic chains and can be used to produce acrylic esters (such as 2-ethylhexyl acrylate and butyl acrylate), acrylamide, superabsorbent polymer (SAP), among others, acting very flexibly in chemical reactions. Additionally, it is soluble in water, alcohols, ethers, and chloroform, and is recognized as a strong corrosive agent for various metals, including unalloyed steel, copper, and brass.
The investigation may result in the imposition of antidumping measures and the consequent increase in the cost of Brazilian imports of wire rod for a period of 05 (five) years, postponable.
The original text of the Official Notice of Initiation of the antidumping investigation (in Portuguese) is available in the following link.
