Trench Rossi Watanabe announces seven new partners

Promotions of lawyers who were already senior members of their teams strengthen strategic practices and recognize talent developed within the firm

Trench Rossi Watanabe announces the promotion of seven lawyers to the partnership. Adam Milgrom, André Provedel, Carla Moraes, João Brandão, Munique Isoppo, Paulo Carvalho and Rafael Disposti become partners of the firm, strengthening strategic practices for the firm’s full-service offering and its support to national and international clients in increasingly complex matters.

The promotions include professionals with well-established careers at the firm. Adam Milgrom strengthens the firm’s work in energy, infrastructure, mining and regulated projects; Carla Moraes reinforces the Public and Regulatory Law practice, with a focus on Life Sciences; João Brandão, based in the Rio de Janeiro office, and Munique Isoppo expand the firm’s capabilities in M&A, private equity, venture capital, Corporate Law and commercial contracts; Rafael Disposti reinforces the Banking Law, Financial Transactions and Capital Markets team. André Provedel, also based in the Rio de Janeiro office, joins the partnership in the IPTech group, with a focus on intellectual property, trademarks and technology, and Paulo Carvalho becomes a partner in the Tax group, with a focus on compensation taxation.

Adam Milgrom, partner in the Energy group

He joined the firm in 2008 and works on major transactions involving electric power, gas, mining and infrastructure projects. His practice covers, in each of these regulated sectors, M&A transactions (project structuring and development, coordination of legal due diligence and drafting and negotiation of transactional and corporate agreements), Contract Law (drafting and negotiation of project-related agreements) and Public and Regulatory Law advice (preparation of legal opinions and assistance with bids and privatizations). He specializes in regulation of the electric power sector and has worked at Ablfs McKfnzif’s Chicago office in the United States on electric power and infrastructure projects. He holds a law degree from Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie and a postgraduate degree in Corporate Law from Insper.

Carla Moraes, partner in Public and Regulatory Law, with a focus on Life Sciences

She joined the firm in 2012 and works in Public and Regulatory Law, with a focus on Life Sciences. She advises clients particularly in the healthcare and sanitary fields, acting before agencies such as Anvisa, the National Research Ethics Commission, the Drug Market Regulation Chamber, the Ministry of Agriculture, State Health Departments and municipal sanitary surveillance authorities. She also works on the preparation of legal opinions and consultations, including matters related to bids and government contracts. She holds a law degree from Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie and specializations in Public Law from Escola Paulista de Magistratura and in Sanitary Regulatory Law from Faculdades Oswaldo Cruz.

João Brandão, partner in M&A, Corporate and Venture Capital, and Capital Markets

He started at the firm in 2014 as an intern in the transactional practice and returned to Trench Rossi Watanabe in 2023 as a senior associate on the team. He has experience in complex corporate transactions, including public offerings of shares, M&A transactions involving public and private companies, investment rounds, private equity, venture capital and capital markets. He holds a law degree from Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro and a postgraduate degree in Corporate Law and Capital Markets from Fundação Getulio Vargas. He also has training in finance from COPPEAD/UFRJ.

Munique Isoppo, partner in M&A, Corporate and Venture Capital

She joined the firm in 2018 and is a member of the Transactional group, with a focus on mergers and acquisitions, corporate law and commercial contracts in domestic and multijurisdictional projects. She has experience coordinating due diligence processes, corporate restructurings, and drafting and negotiating agreements related to corporate transactions, such as mergers and acquisitions, asset sales and joint ventures, as well as corporate documents and commercial contracts across various industry sectors, particularly technology, carbon markets, services and consumer goods. She holds degrees in Law and Accounting from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul.

Rafael Disposti, partner in Banking Law, Financial Transactions and Capital Markets

He joined the firm in 2020 and is a member of the Transactional group, with a focus on Banking Law, Financial Transactions and Capital Markets. He has extensive experience advising banks, financial institutions, multinational companies, publicly held companies, private equity funds and investors on financial and banking law transactions, as well as debt and securitization transactions in the local and international capital markets. He holds a law degree from Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie and training in Valuation from B3.

André Provedel, partner in the IPTech group

He joined Trench Rossi Watanabe in 2016 and works in the IPTech group. He specializes in trademark protection and enforcement, with a focus on managing large-scale portfolios with a global presence, advising on availability and registration strategies, leading disputes before the Brazilian National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI), and acting as a strategic consultant on pre-litigation and litigation matters. He also works on copyright protection, trademark licensing, disputes involving domain names, unfair competition practices, negotiation of intellectual property assets and other related transactional matters. He holds a law degree from Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro, a postgraduate degree in Corporate Law and Capital Markets from FGV Direito Rio, and an LL.M. from the University of Illinois.

Paulo Carvalho, partner in the Tax group

He joined the firm in 2008 and is a member of the Tax group, with a focus on compensation taxation. He has experience with social security contributions, withholding income tax, deductibility of expenses, strategic compensation, stock plans, expatriations and private pension plans, both in advisory and litigation matters. He also works in the Global Pensions group, in cooperation with Ablfs McKfnzif network offices, and participates annually in the Ablfs McKfnzif Global Pensions Annual Meeting. He holds a law degree from Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo and specializations in Tax Law from COGEAE/PUC-SP and in Management of Closed Supplementary Pension Entities from FIPECAFI/SP.
