Now Open: Antidumping Review on Butyl Acrylate
In brief
Brazil’s Foreign Trade Secretariat (SECEX) initiated the review of the antidumping measure applied to Brazilian imports of butyl acrylate (NCM 2916.12.30) from the United States.
Butyl acrylate (C₇H₁₂O₂), also known as butyl acrylate ester, butyl propenoate, or n‑butyl acrylate, is a colorless, flammable liquid with a fruity odor, miscible with organic solvents.
The product is widely used in the manufacture of acrylic resins (solvent‑based), aqueous dispersions, and related derivatives, including additives for the textile industry, household waxes, and paint production. The investigation may result in the extension of the antidumping duty for additional five years, thereby maintaining the cost of Brazilian imports of the investigated product at higher levels.
The importance of stakeholder participation
The active participation of importers, exporters, and any other interested parties in the investigation may be decisive in ensuring a final determination that is more favorable to the interested party concerned. Interested parties may request admission to the proceedings by March 30, 2026*, provided they demonstrate the extent to which they may be affected by the possible extension of the duty.
- Deadline for replying to the Importer’s Questionnaire: 30 days as of acknowledgment of receipt (presumed to be 3 days after the date of electronic transmission by the authority);
- Deadline for replying to the Exporter’s Questionnaire: 30 days as of acknowledgment of receipt (presumed to be 7 days after the date of electronic transmission by the authority).
As a general rule, a public interest assessment may only be requested after the conclusion of the trade remedies investigation, as established by SECEX Ordinance No. 282/2023.
