UPDATE ::: Decree No. 46,944 / 2020 grants special tax treatment to plants

The Legislative Assembly of the state of Rio de Janeiro (Alerj) approved, by 42 votes in favor and five against, legislative decree #30/20, suspending the effects of Executive Decree #46.944/20, published last Tuesday.

Alerj justified the suspension on the basis that the granting of incentives for thermoelectric generation should have been done through law and not through a decree. In addition, Alerj stated that in its original form, Decree # 46.944/20 breached the Rio de Janeiro State Tax Recovery Program agreed with the federal government. The suspension act should be enacted and published in the next few days.
